I've just started to cycle home from work every night. And on my way home in the dark I see bats flying around. I cant change my route, but I am worried about the threat they pose?
Can anyone help please?

Don't worry, bats aren't that dangerous. They usually keep to their own (we had bats drank from the poolwater at night while we were in the pool and we never had a problem). If you are anxious, you should check out what kind of specie it is exactly and see what kind of disease these could carry. Then get a shot, you will feel safer even if I'm about to bet everything they will never touch you ;)

Well, stay as far away as possible, highly unlikely you would get bit out of the blue. They are a huge carrier of rabies, which is almost always fatal in humans after symptoms occur. Rabies can be transferred by a bite, or if you are in contact with saliva or droppings or blood. They carry other diseases also. Just give them space and they will probably leave you alone. If you do have contact with them, go to the emergency room...

Bats are wonderful. They are a benefit and no threat.

They eat bugs that can carry diseases.
