It depends on the validity of the teaching. Too much religion (man made ideals - like rituals, dress code etc) brings doubt to Christianity. How do you weed through what you have been taught and what is real? I grew up in a religion that believed in the trinity but ignored the Holy Spirit. Now I know that they were so wrong! The Holy Spirit is given to you by God to guide/protect you. Without the holy spirit, there is no trinity.

When you take a young child and start telling that child what you want him/her to know then when that child is older he/she will believe what you told them because that is all they know. A child is like a blank chalkboard and when you start "writing" things on that chalkboard then that is how the child learns. Only when you are an adult and start doing research on your own will you learn what you really want to believe in.

If there is no grace or forgiveness in a Christian home, or the parents aren't following Christ by obeying His commands, it can cause the children to turn from Christianity.

I think it was how it was approached. If people are forced to go to church when they are growing up many end up recenting that & moving away from the church. I was raised in the church but was never forced to go, I always enjoyed it. I guess that affects how you feel when you get older.
