Candy. Also, one that goes over real well is those Fruit Drinks, just the cheap stuff is fine, actually it may be Kool-Aid. I buy them at the dollar store and it great many are thirsty. Trick-or-Treating hard work! Ha!!! I usually fill a 5 gallon plastic bucket with candy and sit on the porch with the drinks in a cooler. One thing I always do, is I get one of those BIG M&M's bags or a LARGE Hersy Bar. Just one and wait for a little one to come up. Then I look into my bucket and say; "Oh! No! I have given away all my candy, I have one candy left, will that be OK"? With a pout and sad eyes the little Booger says "Yes" Then I pull out that Big Bag real slow and drop it in their bag. Ha!!! It a blast, they will run to their Parent and show them their Prize. Real Fun!

One year I gave out Halloween pencils. One year it was Dairy Queen gift slips for a free cone. Then theres the traditional snickers-hershey- and kit cats! Or u can always make small bags up with an assortment of penny candies for each.

Give out candy. I prefer M&M's or the 3 Musketeers bars. Halloween is over a month away.

We live out in the country so we don't often get kids at that time, until one year someone showed up at the door so my son gave her a bottle of hershey's syrup..True! Other then that if in the future someone does come again, i'll give them money

mega-sealed candy such as bubblegum or whatever... you know, people get paranoid so better give away safe stuff... like the healthy old days when the worst was a caries or a sore tummy... (miss those pre-paranoia times)
If you dont want to spend a fortune go to sam's or walmart and buy huge bags of whatever candy's popular...

Is there a nearby WENDY's or BurgerKing? Here they sell these coupons for free fries or frosty, usually they are ten for a dollar, if I remember correctly. The parents will love you. Kids don't come trick or treating around here, I buy them for my kids and we use them ourselves.

Chocolate bars. we used to get over 100 kids, living 2 blocks from the school. Now we live in a rural area I don't think we would ever get any kids. It's sad, I think I will miss them.

I usually dress up as an alien and sit on the front porch. Then the kids think I am fake and they ring the doorbell. Then I jump up. Scares the littleones so bad they usually wet their buzz lightyear suits.

We live where we get 200 kids, I make us all wear costumes for fun. And everyone loves it. I get fun small bags you can get some at rite aid drugs store, thats where I get mine. there are cute and fun plus there nice to pass out. I put two or three small pieces of Candy, remember kids are getting candy everywhere else so no need to be generous. So make it fun. My friends give nickles or quarters, you can give small toys, use your mind, remember it's all about making it fun for all. They have plastic rings at party city. skulls, cats... good luck

Canned drinks. The kids FREAK on them because they are different, cool, bigger, make their bags heavier and they aren't too expensive either. I let my daughter's class pick what I should give out and this was a for sure YES!!
