They believe the bible is true firstly... then something like the Da Vinci code comes out and they go ape over it. It's a story. They are ALL stories.... fiction. They act as if everyone believes the Da Vinci code is real.

Good point. That is one thing that bothers me as I look at other Christians. There are those of us, though, who do not react like that. We try to teach other Christians not to be so reactive and paranoid.

What's ironic is that I know the Da Vinci code is fiction... that most Christians know the Da Vinci code is fiction...

...and yet I often have to answer questions from people like you who ask, "Well, didn't Jesus and Mary Magdalene have a daughter?", "Didn't Jesus go to Asia?", "Isn't the Christian faith patriarchal because the silenced the Gospel of Mary and other Gnostic gospels that promoted a matriarchal society instead?", and best of all, "Isn't the Da Vinci code based on facts? I mean, it says that most of the stuff in it are facts right there on the opening pages".

...you'd think some atheists believed the Da Vinci Code was real, 'cuz I'm not getting these questions from Christians, but rather, atheists and agnostics.

The main problem with the davinci code was that it WAS stated by the author and the media as a factual event in promotional interviews. That's where Dan Brown new the money was, in controversy. And what easier way to achieve this but falsely claim he knows what he is talking about to dis-credit someone Else's beliefs. Though all he actually did was prove he does not know what he's talking about., thus professing his own ignorance, as well as those who claim to this day that what he has written is based on Fact.

Besides, it's become very fashionable to bash on God and those who believe in God. Another example of people following a trend with Blind Faith, the same thing which they claim the belivers of being misguided for doing. Don't you just love the hypocrisy is the world?

As the story from a literary fictional mystery is very weakly constructed. I love mystery novels, and this is by far very weekly constructed.

I was excited to read it when I heard about it, but got bored very quickly and it took much for me to get through it.

There are some who can not distinguish between reality and fiction, and will believe anything the media presents to them. Those people are far worse then fundamentalists because they seem to believe anything someone else tells them, thus failing to have a belief based on their own opinion but that of another.

It even states in the Bible, seek and you shall find. Does this not mean to question that which you are presented as truth?

to ask is to learn and to learn is to grow

Obviously many people did'nt read the forward of the book which said very clearly that is a fictional book. I couldn't believe how obssessed people got over it and actually took it's contents as fact not fiction. I believe the Bible as fact. That's enough for me.

People get really paranoid when anyone offers another opinion, a new story and especially some facts that put their belief in question. Of course if they were firm in their belief, then they would simply answer and not go off. Movies or stories are just that and those freaked out by it just prove they were not solid in their beliefs to begin with.

Only if it already agrees with their belief system. Typically anything that reinforces their bizarre beliefs is treated as gospel.

Those are only the loud ones. Some of us are actually smart and can think for ourselves.
