I bought a house several years ago. My boyfriend, friends, and I hung several rooms of sheetrock together. I have been working on the sheetrock every chance I wasn't working. Nobody would volunteer help on a specific day. In the meantime I have to look at these walls that haven't been finished. The sheetrock has been hung but the mudding and taping still needs work. Living like this in a big house that has only 4 rooms completely finished is insane. I seem to be the only one at the present time trying to see the job get finished. When my boyfriend comes over he gets mad when I'm working on it. He says that I need to wait until we get the money to pay for getting it all done at one time. I say I'm tired of looking at this and can do it myself. If money wasn't an issue I would move into an apartment until it was done. He thinks I should just drop what I'm doing and talk to him. I am going to finish this if I have to do it myself. I have been wanting to see the end result for 5 years.

When I am working I tell people to walk with me and I will talk while I am doing whatever. What in hell kind of boyfriend do you have who won't get his hands dirty? I think working with sheetrock is fun (yes, I am happiest when working). Any significant other who can't be bothered to help should be an ex-sigother in my book. You don't have to structure your life to suit him. He should be structuring his life to suit you.

I would say it depends on what is more important to you. Your relationship or finishing your house.

I would think that if he came over to visit with you, that he would be helping you to get it done, and you two can talk while doing the work. Men have a hard time multi tasking sometimes. LOL.

Or just ask him to help you get so much done then you can sit and have a chat for a while. If he won't help you finish things up, then maybe, as the first poster said, you should find a new boyfriend.

good luck

Isn't it your house? You have every right to want your home to be put together. You still have to make time for him but you guys can talk while he's helping you hang the sheetrock.

Get him to finish what was started. Forget the talking, work now play later.

Tell your boyfriend you want to finish the work and to leave you alone. Or you can give him the option of helping-give him a trowel and order him to help.

It sounds like your boyfriend is lazy. If you want it finished, ignore him and do it.
