I think Thomas was a man of courage, he said what he felt and thought instead of just going along with the crowd and believing what was unbelievable. He waited and wanted evidence. A very sensible guy.

Thomas doubted because he had to *see* the risen Christ, and put his fingers in the holes in His hands and in His side, before he'd believe that He'd been resurrected.

As to the second one... Does it? Doesn't it? I dunno. All I know is that first there were no animals, and then, *poof*, there were animals.
