EASY: The same reason people cheat: Because, for some reason, you always want what you can't have. When you're not in a relationship anymore, you don't have to worry about jealousy or money or any of the related issues you have to deal with in a relationship, so therefore, you have more time to focus on sex. It's great, I know. = )

The emotional part is gone (at least a lot of it) so you can focus more on sex. Same thing happened to me after a split of 8 years.
