don't listen to BS answers please. YES, there are non-deployable jobs in the military but they are few and far between. jobs like physics research and developement are generally... scratch that... ARE non deployable. the problem is that you need a 4 year degree in physics to even be eligable for that one.

if you want to know about other non-deployable jobs in the military, talk to your local recruiter

EDIT: Just for good old Evo's edification, i live with two army officers and happen to know for fact that research and developement types don't deploy from there either. neener neener neener, mr spent seven years and still don't know nothing. to his credence however, you're not likely to hold a non-deployable slot for more than one assignment

Promethius, you are flat-out WRONG, if for no other reason than because the question was specifically directed to *Army,* thus eliminating any scope of authority you thought you had on the issue.

Having said that, there are exactly NO non-deployable jobs in the Army. There are units that don't deploy (base support units and hospitals, and even THEY deploy individuals), and there are jobs that make you extremely unlikely to get deployed (such as a electronics calibration specialist), but it's still a possibility. I've held two jobs in the Army and been in a field unit (deployable) and base support unit (non-deployable) with BOTH of them. Ultimately, one factor determines whether an individual or unit will get shipped out: the Department of the Army.

for the most part.. No. expect to be deployed at some point. Even nice safe cushy jobs like Admin or Cook deploy.

There are no "non-deployable" MOSes, but there are in fact non-deployable units. For example all TRADOC jobs are non deployable. Become a drill instructor, or a admin clerk in such a unit and u r non deployable.

I wnated to do the same thing.

But when TDA units deploy - that throws that right out the window for us as we have 4 children.

No. All jobs are deployable. Some jobs are less likely to be to deployed, but all can be.

All jobs are deployable, unless you are studying medicine. After graduation, you are deployable. Unless you are prepared to fight for your country, do not join the military.

it's very simple. If you don't want to deploy, don't join the military. That's it.
