So often the police are attacked for killing someone. If the police are telling you to do something even if you are innocent shouldn't you do what they say? There are times when the a police officer goes to far but would you say that is the minority of occurances? Should the police find an alternative to guns even if it puts them in more danger? The people they are after are not going to give up their guns.

In my hometown someone just died after being tasered. There is a big backlash against tasers now.

The police will only shoot you if you present a life threatening danger to them or someone else. If you are innocent of the crime they are investigating but pull out a knife or a gun when approached by a cop you deserve to get shot. That's just stupid. You also have to understand that a cop does not have to wait until you actually pull out a weapon before he shoots you. If you make a sudden move as if to reach for a weapon the cop has the right to get the jump on you and shoot first. It is his life he's protecting and that comes first. As far as alternatives to guns, devices like the Taser and chemical sprays are a good option for the police to have in situations where someone is a danger, but not imminently so but you'll never be able to remove guns from a police officer until you remove the guns from criminals.

Liberals always believe that a police shooting is unjustified. Police have authority to use deadly force when there is life danger imminent.

There will always be some "expert" critic who would say that the police should have exhausted every other means necessary, or should aim to wound, not kill. These are also the people that suggest alternatives, like dart guns with tranquilizers and other such nonsense.

I do not take them seriously simply because I know what most people would do in the same situation. If someone is armed and is a realistic threat, then police have every authority to shoot to kill if the person does not respond to commands.

Yes and no. Police have to develop an appropriate level of force based upon the situation. (i.e. A 20 y.o. male brandishing a gun and threatening his girlfriend gets shot, A 90 y.o Grandma jay walking doesn't).

I agree the majority of the time, the police officer is not at fault. Those men and women are out there everyday to protect society and me. They must be very cautious when they are working, to protect themselves. I happen to believe that if you kill a cop it should be an automatic death penalty. Any one who would fire on an armed and trained police officer would not even think twice about blowing me away in a instant.

Yes. But under law, strange things happen. The man who got hurt by breaking into a business after he fell through a ceiling, sued for his injuries and won. Political correctness toward minorities has run amuck.

I thought thats why they had taser guns, so they could eliminate shooting someone before they know the facts on the situation.

No, that would mean that breaking the law deserves being murdered. Breaking the law has a consequence, but it isn't getting shot. There is something called human rights. In UK, for example, policemen don't have guns, and there is much less overall violence than in the U.S. or other countries. The problem in the U.S. is not crime itself, it is the violence culture, the fact that everyone has guns and everything's about self-defense. All this is seen perfectly in the movie Bowling Columbine...

Depends on the law and if you are truly guilty of breaking the law. If you run a red light and they shoot you, isn't that excessive? I figure if you are holding a gun and robbing a convenience store or a bank then you are asking to die.

YES -- I'm so sick of liberal criminal supporters attacking the heroic Police. When you break the law, you (should) have to sacrifice your right to being treated in a civilized way. I'm so sick of rap music thugs stealing cars and breaking the law, then suing the police when they get their butt kicked. STOP BREAKING THE LAW AND THE POLICE WILL LEAVE YOU ALONE. Good lord it's so simple, and certain people are so stupid.
