Feed on a strict schedule, 3-4 times per day (depending on age) ..Pick up the bowl after 10 minutes. Take him outside after every feeding. He will go about 5-10 minutes after being fed, depending on his age. It will take awhile for him to learn/develop bladder control, but potty should be easier.Make sure he isn't fed just before bedtime, as he will need to go shortly after being fed..Young pups should be fed and then walked 4 times per day, until they poop...He will need more frequent outings for peeing...Walk him just before bedtime, to make certain he is empty..
Never scold for mistakes, but give lavish praise every time he goes outside, like he won the lottery.....Pups can only hold their pee for 1 hour, per month of age..So, its important to empty them just before bedtime..
Use the same word every time.
The most important thing is to watch him closely, and scoop him up and outside when he begins to act restless, turn circles, etc. soon he will whine and look at you when he needs to go.
Be patient...If your patience wears then, talk to your mom, and ask her how long it took to potty train you...How many times she changed your diaper, and bedding....lol

Feed on a schedule, and take the puppy outdoors to potty on a leash right after eating, waking, and playing. They also need to be taken out during the night, and as often as every 2-3 hours.

Also, look for signs that your pup needs to potty, such as sniffing, circling, and take them out asap. If your pup starts to potty inside, pick him/her up right away and place him or her outdoors. Do not scold or yell at the puppy, as he will associate going potty is bad and will hide and potty in the house. Praise and treat like crazy when the pup uses the outdoors to potty.

I do not think paper training and wee pad training is good at all. This does not house break a dog, and I have yet to hear of a single person who has had success with it. In fact, those I know that have tried it have wound up with a dog that moves the pad and paper out of the way, or just pees and poops where ever he or she pleases.

Crate training is the easiest way to accomplish house breaking, as you won't have to clean up as many accidents.

Also, make sure you get something like Pet Force at http://www.frrco.com/121668 to clean up any accidents to keep your puppy from revisiting the same area.

Good luck!

Is there a reason you don't want to crate train, it's the easiest and most effective method. Using newspaper or pads just teaches the dog it's okay to go inside and makes it harder in the long run to get them to go only outside. The only good way I see if you don't want to use a crate is to be with your dog all day long and let it out often. Keep it with you in bed at night and let it out the minute you wake up. Crate training is the best method for house breaking a dog.

Take them outside right after they eat or drink. Don't come back in until the pee/poop. Keep repeating "potty" while you're out there so they'll learn what "potty" means. Give them a treat after they do their business. That's what I did and my dog was trained in 3 days.

We found that laying newspapers down didn't work cuz all he did was pee next to em. So, we kept putting him outside and when he would go, we would give him a treat or some good words. Anytime he would pee in the house, we picked him up right away and put him outside, saying "potty". It's all about association and conditioning.

You have to pay attention to your puppy's movements. If the puppy is circling around a certain spot in your house than the puppy has to go and you should walk the puppy all the time. Cut off the puppies water and food at a certain time at night and walk him/her immediately in the morning when you wake up.

routine tends to work. As soon as he wakes up take him outside then again every hour on the hour. Make sure to praise every time and don't go in until he does go outside.
