We just have to keep busy and stay focused. We rely on family and friends a great deal. We also have military support agencies and fellow military families in the same situation. It's amazing how strong you can be when you need to be. It's so crucial to keep the house running smoothly while they're deployed. You don't want them to have any extra worries. We make sure that they stay centered on the job they have to do. I find crafts to do and keep our daughter active in as many things as she wants to do. Life must go on, no matter what. Sometimes it's hard to remember that. You just don't pay attention to the bad you hear. You try not to watch much news and you sure can't pay attention to all the flamboyant comments on and area like this on the internet. It can really bring you down. Faith is a huge strength to have during deployment. You find yourself praying....alot. You just stay strong, believe in yourself and give all your love to your soldier deployed. Writing, e-mailing and putting boxes together brings you so much closer.

I don't believe there are any tricks. It is a challenge, and each day is different. You stay busy. Communication is VERY IMPORTANT. You must stay in touch with the deployed family member, send them emails, cards, letters, and packages full of whatever they can't get wherever they are stationed. Save your money for phone calls - because sometimes they're not cheap - depending on where they are stationed. The bottom line is that it's different for every person, there is no hard and fast rule - no tricks, no hints or tips. Some people fight each day to make it through their sadness, and some stay so busy that they fall asleep in exhaustion at the end of each day...

It's emotional, but if it tests your sanity maybe you should've reconsidered being involved with someone in the military. You can be deployed, sent off for 6 months for officer training, any number of things. You're going to be away from your family, and sometimes for what seems like a very long time.

You do what you have to in order to HONOR the Service Commitments -- which means that this (now) Military Retiree had to make sure that her child care plan was current, available, and when I needed to -- get Deployed and leave them in capable hands.

The Aliens are controlling the Government. They are causing all the conflicts on Earth to keep the human race from moving out into space.
It's a conspiracy.

You kinda become numb over time, you become so used to them bing gone as do the children that its weird to have them around. Think of it like this you live over half your life celibate and then they come home for a few months you have fun and its all like a daydream and you daydream about it all day until they come home again and it starts all over. Romantic huh
