Muslims, I see this in post all the time: What does “PBUH”, “SAWS”, and “SWT” mean?

They are abbreviations. PBUH means peace be upon him (or peace and blessings be upon him) and SAWS means the same thing but in Arabic (Allahu alayhi wa sallam, also transliterated as sallalahu aleyhi wasallam. It is a phrase that Muslims are required to say after mentioning the name of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, Jesus Christ, Abraham and all the other prophets cited in the Qur'an. It is also used by Shia Muslims after mentioning Ali ibn Abi Talib or one of the imams that followed Ali. An alternative translation is "May Allah bless him and grant him peace." In Arabic, these salutations are called salawat.

Qur'anic evidence for asking the blessings on the Prophet
In the translation of the meanings of the Qur'an in Surah 33 entitled Al-Ahzab (The Confederates), ayah (verse) 56:
"Allah sends His Salah on the Prophet (Muhammad), and also His angels (do so). Oh you who believe! Send your Salah on (i.e. ask Allah to bless) him (Muhammad) and greet him with the Islamic way of greeting (i.e. as-Salaam Alaykum, which means peace be upon you)" (33:56)

Hadith evidence for asking the blessing on the Prophet
The evidence for sending Salah on the Prophet Muhammad is not limited to the Qur'an. It is also found in the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad. Examples include:
At-Tirmidhi recorded that Abu Hurayrah said:
"The Messenger of Allah said, May he be humiliated, the man in whose presence I am mentioned and he does not send Salah upon me; may he be humiliated, the man who sees the month of Ramadan come and go, and he is not forgiven; may he be humiliated, the man whose parents live to old age and they do not cause him to be granted admittance to Paradse."


SWT means Subhanahu wa Ta`ala. Muslims, when referring to the name of Allāh, often append the phrase "Subhanahu wa Ta`ala", sometimes abbreviated SWT, (English: "Glorified and Exalted is He") as a sign of reverence. "Azza wa Jalla" (عز و جل) is also sometimes appended in this way. The entire religion of Islam is based on the idea of getting closer to God.Although commonly referred to as a "He", God is considered genderless, but there is no epicene gender to express this in the Arabic language. When Greek or other polytheistic deities are discussed in Arabic, it is customary to use the expression ilāh, a "deity" or "god"; sometimes the word ma`būd, literally meaning "worshipped entity", is used instead.

The only one I know of is PBUH. Which means, Peace Be Upon Him. The others, I've never seen.

PBUH - Peace be upon him is mentioned after any prophet's name. It is strongly recommended to say this after mentioning the name of the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. It is also advisable to say this after other prophets names i.e Jesus peace be upon him or Abraham peace be upon him.

SAWS - Sallallahu Aleihi Wa Sallam (same as above, only in arabic.)

SWT - Abbreviation letters denoting the Sublime name of Almighty Allah, (S) Subhaanahu (Glory be to Allah), (W) and (T) Ta`aalaa (The Exalted).

PBUH / SAW-"Peace be upon you". "SAW" is the arabic version. It means that we pray that peace and blessings be upon the prophets of God.

SWT- "Subhanah Wa' Ta'ala" in Arabic. I'm not sure what the translation in English is, it's something like "Glory be to God, the high" or something.

whenever we the Muslim say or write the name the Holy prophet Hazrat Muhammad we say a pray in Arabic ,in english it means Peace Be Upon Him. and SAWS is the abreviation of original text in Arabic
