there are so many places, some of them are famous, but the place is whatever place you like, that is close to you, and you like the owner/employees, because i really believe the cheesesteaks are so similar, and there is not a real difference between good ones (of course there are bad ones), you have to just try different ones near you until you find one that meats your needs)

Pat's and Genos are the two most famous cheese steak places in the city, but they are far from the best. Jim's on South Street is pretty good. Honestly, every restaurant in the city sells a cheesesteak, the fun part is figuring out which one is your favorite.

Geno's In South Philly
pat's is also good. They are right across the street from each other. One of them was featured in Rocky. Pat's and Geno's is about as Philly as you get with Cheesesteaks.

This isn't a cheesesteak place, but if your looking for a really nice dining experience, maybe a hot date, go to Swanky Bubbles on the Waterfront.
