You might try your local animal shelter. There are some beautiful dogs there that need love. You did not mention how old your shitzu was, so my answer is limited because of that. Also, some of the local vet offices know of small dogs that need a good home; also grooming places will know of some as well. Good luck. I sure do like little yorkies.

Is your shitzu going to be responsible for the new dog's training, health, well being? If not, then you are getting a new dog for yourself. If that's not a problem then fine, do it. Just remember that another dog means twice as much time, responsibility and expense on your part.
Try your local shelter for an inexpensive / free dog.

How Sweet- A playmate for your dog- Thats shows that your a caring person . You can try a local shelter or a rescue society in most cases there will be a small fee but you know you'll be getting a dog or puppy that has been checked out and should be in great health , also your be giving a dog or puppy a home.
Happy pet parenting.

What state do you live in? My friends dog had puppies 2 days ago and sounds like she will be giving them away! She said they are a Mini Schnauzer mix. Try your local classifieds or rescue sites on internet for certain breeds, a lot of people give their dogs up to rescue groups because they don't want their dogs anymore for what every reason.

If you're looking for free, try the newspaper. Shelters, rescues, etc all cost money to buy a dog from them. Make sure you can afford to own another dog before you get one though.

Just put in your own zip code and Happy Shopping! these dogs are better than free..as they have vet checks, and are current on all shots, and parasite free, and most are spay/neutered and house trained!
