It is being lazy. I have Parkinson's, I get a lot of double letters and skipped letters. By just rereading before I hit preview I catch most of them. Sometimes I get pretty long in explaining something, then I use the spelling checker. I think the easiness of using a computer has caused some laziness too. In the days before word processing when we used typewriters if we made a mistake we had to either erase or use whiteout.

Spell check is a major reason why people can't spell in the first place. If yahoo answers did a spell check be default it would help.

For some people...it's easier to use "text language"...or "IM" spelling.....It used to be a pet peeve of mine until I came onto this site. It's like facing your fears sort of thing.
