Mohammad only claimed to be a prophet or medium between a messenger of God and men, but the modern religion of Islam in general gives far more veneration to him than he asked for. Take for example, the violent outrage in regard to the drawings of the Mohammad. The reason that he prohibited making images of himself was so there could be no undue veneration given him, and yet in this case it seems to have had the opposite effect.
Now, take Christendom for comparison. The Christ also never claimed to be God himself. He always directed all of the credit and worship to his "Father". Yet, most modern day churches place him as equal to God. The Holy Bible forbids any object or image for use in worship. Yet again, most churches uses crosses, statues, paintings, and a whole list of things that were never instituted by Jesus as a part of a Christian's worship.
Even Judaism bares little resemblance to it's original form.

Have you ever wondered why these three religions with similar origins have taken such different directions? Have you ever wondered why many of the rites of these religions bare similarities to religions once condemned by the Bible?

He was only a man. He was only a messenger. He did not have any knowledge, treasure or powers other than what God gave him. He is a prophet, what sets him apart was that he was the last prophet.

A Prophet of God. A Messenger to tell all to worship one God. He told us to Pray to God and no other and worship no man. God is your Savior ,salvation and Judge. It is He that answers your prayers and shall allow you entry to His Kingdom - Heaven.
He does not need associates/partners/son/children or anyone else to intercede for him or judge for him nor does he need any sacrificial Human to take his place and supposedly be as divine/equal as Him.

~
Otherwise are you really worshiping God or are you just worshiping 'divine' Human. No man/human is worthy of worship.

and when he was dead..his friend Abu bakr said:" who worships mohammed, then Mohammed is dead, but who worships Allah, Allah is living and do not dies

Mohammed- BPUH- was afraid of being worshiped with or instead of allah.....like christians did with former prophet Jesus....And , Muslims still worships Allah only. :)

I am not a Muslim, but my understanding is that Mohammed was the prophet to whom Allah revealed the teachings of the Quran (I hope I spelled that correctly). He is definitely not a god, as there is only one god: Allah.
