I didn't know that cats shouldn't have certain things. I have mild mental retardation and live at home with my mom, dad,my brother,my sister and her husband and her daughter and it is me too.
I am 21 but mentally 10 to 12 years old.

Good job! You did the right thing by helping him out! He's probably so happy that you saved him from choking! I'm sure he'll be fine, but like everyone else said make sure to keep strings and such away from him and keep an eye on him for the next day or so. But I'm sure he's fine...you are a good kitty's mommy!

Hi there...your cat may be okay, however please watch him very closely for the next 24 -72 hours just in case there are any residial string stuck inside him. If doesn't eat or has problems having a bowel movement, or is acting differently than usual rush him to the vet immediately.
May I suggest if you tease your cat with string-like toys, please make sure to taken away and stored it in a safe place when finished as cats can accidentally ingest it and cause irreparable intestinal damage.
Please both excerpts below taken from several websites:
String, yarn, feathers and rubber bands often offer enticing play for cats, but these can be swallowed whole, possibly lodging in the intestinal tract and causing blockage. If only partially swallowed, this, too, can result in severe problems. For instance, one end of the string can wrap around the cat's tongue while the rest of the string is swallowed. If you ever see your kitty with string (or a similar object) caught in its mouth, NEVER try to pull it out. If the string is lodged internally, pulling it can cut the cat's intestines, killing him. Instead, see your veterinarian immediately.
Excerpt taken from Lifetips.com: http://cat.lifetips.com/faq/31107/0/are-strings-dangerous-for-cats-to-play-with/index.html.
Strings Can Be Deadly
Kittens as well as adult cats love to play with string. This can be a deadly combination. Not only can your cat choke on this, but string can cause irrepairable internal damage and even death to your kitten or cat. Never let your cat play with string unsupervised, and always use a string/twine/cord that is as large as a pencil.

he should be ok, just observe him for a while, make sure all string is put away. I would get some laxatone or hairball remedy and give him a good dose of that and make sure he isn't plugged up. if he starts throwing up and being lethargic get him to the vet he could have swallowed more than you pulled out and he has a blockage and would need an enema or surgery.
if it makes you feel better you can call your vet and tell them what happend and they might be able to give you some ideas of what to do or say you did a good thing and just observe him.

Lol.. my cats used to do that all the time. Especially my Tabby point Siamese. Anyway, you did the right thing. iuesd to find the string in the litter box....ewww. Just make sure your cat can't get any more string, sometimes they swallow it and it can cause a strangulation of the intestine, which is serious.

If you got it out he will be fine. You have learned that it is very dangerous to leave this stuff around with cats. Dental floss can be dangerous too. Sewing materials, needles and thread are also things that must be careful put away after use so the cat can't get into them.

Yup, keep string away from cats unless you're closely supervising their play. This happens more than you probably realize, and it's not your fault! You did the right thing, and I'm sure your cat will be fine now. Don't bear yourself up.....we all make mistakes....that's why we live and learn:)

You did the right thing, definitely. He may just have irritated his throat when the string passed through, either going in or coming out.

If string is the worse thing your cat hacks up, you are way ahead of the game. If he is still breathing,he is OK.
