Most African healers are part of a larger religion. Many practice a form a spirit communication. If they are only healers then they heal people. However if they are part of a religion such as Vodou then it would be much more.

In Vodou the leaders hold rituals, celebrations, cleansing, healing, magic, counseling, and the list goes on. I practice Haitian based Vodou. The Mambo or Hougan provide for the house members, the families, and the community. There is no main focus but to help those that need it!
