you are right. they should fear us, but it is hard to fear America when we are at war with ourselves over this war in Iraq. If we want to show them who to fear, we should give them true reason to fear, instead of squabbling in our own borders. America is an almost broken system, our parties are so split that taking any forceful action is near impossible. I fear for our country if our next president is a weak Commander in Cheif.
Dont forget, our Presidents first title and original job is Commander of the Army... I am not a warmonger or anything, I just think that if we are being threatened by someone, we should have the right to do something about it instead of argue amongst ourselves.

I would not call them cowards....I don't agree with them or their beleifs but they are smart.....they know they can't win a head to head battle with the US....they are doing a very good job at tear our country apart though....we are so divided right now and that is what they want....They are playing out a stragity that will let them win if we don't finish what we they started....if we run or don't keep fighting they win....smart...they want to break our spirit by all of these little attacks and take away our resolve to fight...we just have to keep going and don't give them the satisfaction of us running home....if we do that it will only get worse....at the same time I do think that is takes a coward to kill innocent people to get your point across,.

Becasue their acts create fear, chaos and panic, or "terror." They do not discriminate among civilians or military. Part of their sick & twisted plan is to cause fear and anxiety (terror) in ordinary people who are just going about their daily business. E.g. when an ordinary citizen sets off in a plane, there is a sense of anxiety that that aircraft may be the target of some crazy islamofacist. Terror is a type of psychological warfare and those who use this method are called terrorists.

The problem is that when they enter this country they have all of the same civil rights that we have. That makes it kind of difficult to make them fear us...what are we going to do, throw them in jail...then let it take 5 years before they go to trial and not give them the death penalty in the end. Even if they do get the death penalty most terrorist cells believe that this is the final devotion to their cause...if they are exectued, they think they have died with honor and will go to see Allah in whatever heaven they believe.

Im afraid of them..and if you were in the situation, you'd be poopin bricks for weeks. So dont point fingers unless you are in the situation itself.
shame on you. How about you go join the army, then go to felluja or wherever and get on the front line and test the road for little bombs. See if you're scared then

Correction - we refer to terrorists as cowards, not cowards as terrorists.
We call them cowards because they are not man (or woman) enough to be held accountable for their actions. They send others to do their dirty work while they stay hidden.

You may call suicide bombers lots of things, but they are definitely not cowards. A coward is a person who shrinks away from danger or trouble. Suicide bombers are guaranteeing their own deaths, so that hardly qualifies as shrinking away from danger.
"Terrorist" is a term for someone who targets innocent civilians in order to change a government's policy. That seems like a pretty accurate term for your typical suicide bomber.

You're right. They're nothing more than cowards. Also, we've brought it on like donkey kong, so they pretty much know we're not afraid of them.

Perhaps it's because they do not have the guts to face up to their actions on a one to one confrontation. Most often they are afraid to die and don't even know it, just too stupid to avoid it.
