33.33333 pony shots (one ounce shots)
22.222 shots (drinks of alcohol about equal to one beer or 4-5 ounces of wine)
A liter is 1000 ml, a shot (1.5oz) is 45ml, a pony shot (1 oz shot) is 30. 1000/30 = 100/3. 100/30 is 99 and 1/3 left over. So, you get 33.33333 1 ounce shots out of a liter of gin.
If you do it the other way of converting first, then doing math, you get a slightly different answer because of small differences in the conversion, so either is right and they are close enough to not worry about. I'm just used to ml when talking about alcohol.

A liter is 33.8 oz, so you'd get 33.8 1oz shots. Most people pour 1.5oz per shot, however, so the 22.5 answer (the first one) is also correct.
It all depends on how closely you measure!
