During the day the bark constantly in about intervals of 1min to 10mins does this sort of weepy bark. Not sure if they keep her inside or out side allday, sounds like as if she is outside.

I dont think the dog is happy during the day but in the eveings she seems quiet, I dont want to really bother the neighbours but I dont think they even take her for walks anymore. Infact I have never seen them walk it.

The sound drives me crazy and even when its not barking I can hear it tormenting me when she isnt even barking!

It sounds like the dog is lonely and bored. If they leave her out for long periods or in bad weather you could call the SPCA on them. You could talk to them about it, they may be gone during the day and unaware of the problem. If you are an animal lover you may even offer to take the dog for a walk or give it some company.

Talk to the neighbor (it's not really bothering them with a burden as much as the noise is bothering you), or you can call animal control and ask them to investigate. It's best to do that than have the animal left alone all day to bark. Not only is it an annoyance to you, but the dog is barking for someone to come give it some attention and love. If the owners are not willing, the dog should be taken away and given to someone willing to give it the time and energy the dog requires.

Poor dog, it sounds bored stupid and lonely, why do people get a dog then leave it on its own all day long, selfish and pointless, barking dogs are constituted as a nuisance whether during the night or day, get in touch with either the environmental health or the RSPCA, both of them will help sort the problem out for you and hopefully the owners too, you don't have to put up with it.

You know what, I recently had the same problem, only my neighbour lives in a caravan and has two dogs, she goes out first thing in the morning and they bark constantly, from the moment she gets off her drive to the moment she drives back on it. And yes, it can drive a person insane. I asked her nicely to sort them out, and she fell out with my family, and a couple of other people in the area. Not only that, when we had all them hot days they were cooped up in a caravan that was 30 degrees inside. Its not fair. Anyway, we had a row a few weeks later, and they have been quiet ever since.

If you can't resolve it by talking to the owners, don't sit and listen to it, either report them to the council, (environmental department) or the RSPCA, you don't need to give your name.

The dog needs some corrective behavior training. He's not being bad, he's just being a dog.

Have a talk with the dog's owners and perhaps try to find out what it is that makes the dog bark so much. It sounds like you're being a good neighbor by not wanting to bother them, but they have to be good neighbors too.

if you are in the UK, contact the animal welfare officer at your local council. They will come round and monitor the situation, speak to other neighbours and perhaps have a word with the neighbours to see if they are coping with their dog and offer advice. Before I did any of this though, I would approach the neighbours in a friendly manner and let them know that you are concerned that their dog seems very distressed during the day while they are out. They may not be aware of it.
I have 7 dogs and would be quite happy if my neighbours came to speak to me about a problem with my dogs so that I could assure them that I would take steps to rectify it.
Perhaps you could offer to take the dog out for a walk during the day if they are out all the time.

unlike cats who are ok on their own, dogs like company. What a pity this dog has nobody to stroke her during the day. She would probably like a little walk in the morning, a nice lunch, then go off to sleep in the afternoon.

It is unfair of the neighbours to treat their dog like this. Perhaps they got her when the wife was at home but how she has to go out to work. Most dogs respond well to a little affection, I would ask if I could take her for a walk sometimes.

what on earth do you mean when its not barking you can hear it tormenting you, the desent thing would be to go and have a word with the neighbours about there pet dog barking in the day time, and then take it from there.
do you watch then to see if they take the dog out or not, most my neighbours don't see me take mine out for walks cos its 6.30 am in the morning

If you are concerned then you need to do something - not just for the dog but for yourself and your peace of mind.

If you are on, otherwise, good terms with the dogs owners then I would suggest approaching them - maybe they are not aware of the noise she is making - if they are out then they will not know. It may be that they need a little "push" into rehoming her (it's not an easy decision and they may be putting it off) a little word from you to make them realise how she is feeling might make their decision easier.

If you are unable to approach them then I would say that you need to consider contacting an animal welfare organisation - they may be able to offer help to the owners and can work out a more suitable arrangement.

It's a hard decision but it is affecting you so you need to do something about it.

Best of luck
