Just request water-plain or fizzy. Most wine tastings we have attended have had an alternative to the wine. Don't be embarrassed-have fun!

Since you are able to drink grape juice, it is likely that your allergy is to the tannins in the wine. Before the wine tasting, try some white wine like Sauvignon Blanc or chardonnay to see if you get a reaction. If not, stick to the white wines at the tasting and you'll be fine.
If you want to stay away from wine altogether, just enjoy any other beverage of your choice. Wine tastings are meant to be fun and social.

Never feel embarassed about NOT drinking alcohol.
My husband runs a hotel and has frequent chef's events and wine tastings. Sometimes I'll have a small glass but most often I get a 7-up and spend my time chatting with people about the art on the wine labels.

Don't order non-alcoholic wine. Bad idea and bad etiquette. Instead, request soda or water and you'll be fine. You could even ask them to stock plain grape juice (although I'm not sure why that would be ok and wine not be) and simply serve you that so that you don't feel left out. Have fun! : )

Yes, ask for non-alcoholic wine...unless it's the grape juice that you are allergic to. Or order a good beer...sayyyy, like Guiness Extra Stout in the bottle!!!! NOT on TAP! NO COMPARISON!

Hmmm, that IS a good question. But I would guess that there might be hors deurves (did I spell it correctly, lol?) at this function. You could ask if there are any non alcoholic drinks.

Just have water. You shouldn't be embarassed, there is always supposed to be a designated driver at these things, so that's your role. Have fun!
