I am a very picky eater and would love to lose some weight. I am 47 years old and do not eat any veggies at all, except potatoes. I do not eat any foreign foods, nothing that lives in water, no soups, no hot drinks, no condements, or fancy foods. I am a basic meat and potato person. How can I lose weight without salads and other veggies?

I am 47 years old. If I haven't eaten it by now, my body doesn't need it. I am in good shape, just want to lose a number of pounds and have never dieted, so that is why I am asking for your help.

To lose weight, a person has to reduce the calorie intake by some amount by modifying their diet. A diet without sufficient nutrients will only increase the appetite of the person trying to lose weight. Since most people combine a diet with an exercise plan, additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles required to increase the metabolic rate required for long term weight loss. Meat and potatoes? That is all you eat? Humm...tbis is tricky. I would first suggest that you start drinking more fluids. More water particularly. Secondly, your diet isnnt healthy and you try and incorporate more variety into your diet. You need to have veggies and fruits in your diet. Try apples, those are good. And try maybe baby carrots. I know you said, no veggies, but really you need to get your taste buds used to these kinds of foods for long term health.

You need some veggies in your diet, you are missing out on many vitamins and minerals. If you don't like to eat them than drink them. There is a great product called Greens First or Green Food, they can give you what you need to fight cravings and actually help you lose more weight. A chiropractor or natural nutritionist can give you more information.

Just a little trick....do you eat spaghetti? If so try pureeing some veggies and adding it to the sauce. If not find some other ways to incorporate veggies this way. Limit your potato intake and eat lean red meat, of chicken. Then try a little exercise.

I hope you like your imminent heart attack!
Grow up, eat vegetables and fruits and expand your culinary horizons by eating healthier and a wider range of foods. You may actually *gasp!* have a new experience. Or even better overall health!
