I am the exact same way. What I have done and used over the years are:

A fan. It makes a constant drone that is easy to listen to and fall asleep.

For really noisy places - use earplugs. That has been the only thing keeping me sane with my snoring dog and husband.

You can also use a sleepmask - it will help keep the light out in the morning or when others turn on outside lights.

And finally, use a white noise machine if you still can't sleep. It provides the same level of noise as the fan, but at a constant level of decibles and sound.

Hope that helps!

Oh yes! Go get an air purifier at Walmart ASAP! Hamilton Beach makes one for about $12 and it plugs right into the outlet (which then blocks the other outlet). WHITE NOISE is a big thing for babies ..... the womb is a very noisy place and they are used to that and once born, the silence can be very disturbing to them! Even a small fan, pointed away from the baby, can provide the white noise that will probably help her settle into a deep sleep (which she and YOU probably both need!) Been there, done that, can't sleep without it myself now!

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

I have never been a good sleeper, ever. There's little to be done. I recommend thick curtains, no distractions and peace and quiet, but if you're a light sleeper, you're a light sleeper.

Cut yourself from all noise,or go to Questions and Answers, that puts me to sleep.Do not nap during the day, exercise.
Did you know that being a lite sleeper is not a bad thing. It will alert you to emergencies, fires ,burglars and so forth.Does it interfere with your daily activity? There is a sleeping aide, called Lunesta, that is not habit forming.

I sometimes wear earplugs when I sleep, so I don't wake up with every little noise

I can't sleep due to severe pain so i take a prescription med called Ambiem CR.......12.5 mg., the highest dose but they do have a smaller dose, like 6.0 and its controlled release (CR) and it keeps you asleep all through the night....it works for me.
