I am trying to call, but the line is busy.

You are quite right. 70 million Americans enjoy playing poker, there is no reason to believe that simply because it is available online there is something evil and wrong about it. This is 2006 not 1806!

Americans should have the right to play poker online if they wish to. It is their money, and their right. This bill is just some total BS because the government want to be seen to be tough on morals. Well that's fine, maybe they should stop opening secret torture camps if they want to be moral.

In a free country people should be allowed to play poker. Banning it will not make it go away it will simply push it underground. Why not tax it and regulate it and use some of the billions of dollars in revenue to help the poor or needy?

This bill is completely irrational and is completely the opposite of what most Americans believe is right. I just don't see how online poker is an issue that needs to be addressed when there are 35 million Americans living below the poverty line and 45 million without proper access to health care. There are real issues out there and these useless politicians are wasting their time and out tax dollars on this kind of crap.

The problem is we have people who don't understand the game or the issues involve pressuring lawmakers who are also in the dark to make bad laws which won't serve to protect anybody. Online poker should be legitimized and regulated just like brick and mortar casinos in order to protect those that play. Most of the 70 million or so Americans who play will continue to play if poker is made an illegal, but will be forced to do so underground. Doesn't anybody remember prohibition?

In maximum states, that's legal to be a participant of online poker. Washington State has made it quite unlawful, yet in maximum different states, enjoying is at worst a grey section. There are few states that penalize gamblers. the challenge then is not any rely if poker is "playing" interior the meaning of the particular regulation. the web websites themselves are neither authorized or regulated interior the U. S. -- yet they're someplace else. they don't pay taxes. they are in a position to be considered to be working a playing corporation, that's a criminal offense in maximum states -- except the entityu is duly authorized, regulated and taxed. some states and the feds have tried to prosecute the web websites in countless strategies, with some fulfillment in some places and no succes in others. there is an ongoing dispute in international courtroom that the U. S. is meddling with the valid corporation pastimes of the web websites. US banks are presently prohibited in knowingly getting in contact in economic transactions with playing. they have been attempting to fulfill the burdens of that regulation. component to their challenge is that not in hassle-free terms do they ought to confirm that a transaction is a playing transaction, in addition they might ought to confirm if that is legal. (i've got not heard of all people being prohibited from depositing Lottery, OTB or Vegas winnings. which additionally are playing, are not they?) This answer ought to get rather long. however the significant ingredient is that, except you're in a state the place gamblers themselves are criminalized, enjoying poker online is legal. For now.

I myself play on-line all of the time and i love playing poker on-line, i don't have to get dressed or drive all the way down to the strip just to play. Now i do think that they could use some over-site by the government but i don't think that all these sites should be banned. No-one is twisting anyone arm to play on-line, they are doing it of their own free will. I myself am down about 150 bucks today, but i don't blame the web-site for it, i blame myself for making a bone-head play and i have no-one to be upset with other then myself.

They are crazy if they think they can ban online poker. it's just like Prohibition law, making it illegal won't kill the idea, just make mobsters earn more money..
