I have lost items when my refrigerator and freezer went bad and i need a price of all items. Where do the managers of the stores get their list?

I don't think there is a master list since store managers usually get their stock from different sources. Chain stores like Wal-Mart may have a single list since they probably work with one distributor. And in any case, prices vary so drastically from region to region that no one could give you a complete list.

I suggest that you get your area's newspaper on the night that the food store ads come out. Take a look at the prices from various stores and take a rough average. That worked for friends of mine who lost food during the power outage in St. Louis, and the insurance adjusters didn't quibble.

Which leads me to my other point -- if you're going through an insurance adjuster for a claim, they'll probably already have a list of the amount they're willing to pay. You might want to talk to them first, if you haven't already, and see if they need the price list or not.

Hope this helps.
