YES!! Do it now! I started mine when she was 15 months old and she loves it! She's almost 3 now and loves school. She goes 2x a week for 4 hours a day.

My child is 30 months and is in a 2 hour Monday and Wednesday playschool (not preschool). The playschool teaches socialization through play. There might be a program offered for that age group, but not sure. It is a personal choice. If you can't find a playschool or you feel it isn't the right time for the both of you there are always playgroups and play dates you can organize with other children in the neighborhood. Even our local rec center offers a Kiddie Time where children his age can play in a gym setting (no pressure). Check out the local recreation centers in your area!

I waited until my son was old enough that, when I took him on a tour of the preschool to check things out, when I asked him "Would you like to go to school here?" he was able to give me a definitive "yes" answer. For him, that was just over 3 years old.
As far as whether it's "good" to put him in school at this age...there are some people who swear by it (like my wife), and there are those who would say they should NEVER be put in daycare (my mom stayed home with us till we were all of school age, then got a job at our school to stay involved with us). Do need to do what's right for you, in terms of needing the money (if you want to go back to work), needing time to socialize with other adults, whether the child has any siblings to work on peer social skills, and so on. The first 2 1/2 years are probably the most critical in terms of his development, so I personally recommend keeping him with you until then....

It would be beneficial for your child to go to a playschool for a half day 1-3 days out of the week. This will help your child develop the social, verbal, and motor skills needed in life. My son has a slight speech delay and I noticed that when I put him in daycare when he was around other kids his age his verbal skill greatly improved as well as his social skills. It is crucial for your child to be able to play with children his own age. This will prepare him for the day he starts kindergarten. (Plus this gives mommy time to get all her chores and errands run plus a little "me" time. That way you can devote as much time as you want to to spend quality time with your son when you pick him up!)

I would wait until he's four. There's nothing wrong with a little boredom. If it bothers you, just get down on the floor and play with him or take him out for a walk. But nothing is better for a child than to spend time with its mother. Enjoy the time, it will pass by faster than you'll realize and the next thing you know, they want to borrow the car.
