The Bible may say that it is a sin, but so is adultery. Why can't we nake that illegal? Lying, passing jusgement, insulting, cussing, etc are all sins. Why aren't they illegal? WE HAVE FREEDOM OF RELIGION! WHY IS SOMETHING THAT CHRISTIANS SEE AS SINFUL ILLEGAL? Who defined marriage? Mankind did, which means it is not set in stone. WHAT ABOUT THE FACT THAT BLACKS WERE "MEANT" TO BE USED AS SLAVES? WE PROVED THEM WRONG! The Bible allows slavery, so lets do it.

Many people believe that if gay marriage is allowed to run rampant across the country then the solid institution that is marriage will become nothing more than a series of tax breaks for the lucky couple.

Wait a second... why does that sound so familiar?

There are many reasons people SAY they are opposed to gay marriage, but are these the REAL reasons more than half of Americans think it best to deny someone their right to marry? A major thing like denying rights should call for major reason behind it, and none of the supposed ones hold any water. There is only ONE reason they are really against it: narrow-minded fear. Many people are just plain uncomfortable with homosexuality altogether, and do not want to see it becoming accepted by society. Some are downright disgusted with the mere thought of two men sharing a life together, and disguise that fear with something that comes off as a valid claim. There is no reason whatsoever to deny a tax-paying American the right that so many enjoy. This should not even be an issue today. This country is supposedly free, but until same-sex marriage becomes legal, this country, in actuality, is NOT free.

I have seen this and I think it is both hilarious and sad as it exposes the hypocritical world of hetersexual dominance. Seriously, people always say it is the gay community that is so self centered but it turns out that the right wing straight community is the one crying "Me Me Me!"

This is the kind of foolish, unjust law that results when people defer to the archaic writings of superstitious, patriarchal men who lived millennia ago instead of using their own intelligence to make laws appropriate for our time.

There is no rational, moral reason why same-sex couples should be denied the right to marry and enjoy the benefits and privileges of civil marriage bestowed by our society to opposite-sex couples.

Yeah it's ridiculous to say that you support marriage and then say you want less of it by making gay marriage illegal.

I was at a wedding two months ago for two close male friends of our family. It was a beautiful wedding and the guys looked incredible in their matching tuxes.

Course, I live in Canada :-) so that's perfectly legal here

Adultery is against the law in many states (if not all - just under a different name)
Lying is against the law, it is called purgery
Passing judgement is against the law, it is called slander or libel (depending on the manner it was delivered)
Insulting is against the law (see above)
Cussing isn't a sin - taking the Lords name in vain is, and is can not be against the law in the U.S. because of the "separation of Church and State" and "Freedom of Religion" - one can not be forced to be Christian (or any religion) so one can not be forced to not take the Lords name in vain.

Marriage is at least as old as the first Egyptian Dynasty and if you will take a look, you will find it has ALWAYS been between man and woman, never between a man and a man or a woman and a woman.

Slavery, also, has been around seemingly forever. It is only in the last 160 years or so that most civilized societies have decided that it was wrong to own a person.

As for the Bible allowing slavery, it also allows for selling your daughter. Can't say it is right, but it is there.
