First off - as far as i know cats are nocturnal - with the exception of mine who seems to be able to sleep 24/7 - she's an amazing creature - can sleep all afternoon, get up, get some food, then go sleep for another 12 hours. LOL
Anyway - they tend to sleep all day and then are up doing their cat thing all nite. Also - kittens are full of energy like that - he will grow out of it. I suggest you try to make him his own little bed somewhere other than your bedroom if you want some sleep. We did that for our cat when she was a kitten stilll - although, now she's figured out if she flings herself into the bedroom door long enough or hard enough a) it wakes us up and we open it or b) she can eventually get it to open herself. Darn cat - lol But now that's she's five we have Rug (our cat) sleeping at nite with us also, so lord knows when she is "up and at 'em"!
I also agree with getting another kitten - we had two when get got them and they kept one another occupied for hours on end - we never saw them - BUT be forewarned, two kittens can get into about 4 times as much trouble as one - lol
Good lucK

My cat was like this, and I had to shut the door for get my rest. It isn't mean as it sounds. Try to give your kitten playtime right before you go to bed and that will be your bonding time. Cats are noctural animals! But also very adaptable. Cats like to sleep with you but don't have to. Once your cat is around two years old, it won't be as playful. Enjoy the playfulness while it lasts. Also if you can get another kitten for a playmateso they'll race around the house at night together. Congratulations on your kitten, keep loving him and getting to know him.

Why does he HAVE to sleep between you? Cats will sleep anywhere....and believe me, you don't want to spoil the crap out of him in that way. A 9-12lb. adult cat takes up a LOT more room than a kitten. Why don't you try setting up some areas on the floor for him to sleep? I'm not saying he CAN'T sleep on your bed, but he also doesn't HAVE to. In fact, getting him used to sleeping in other areas now would be wise.
And this is what kittens do. They play. And cats are nocturnal. Short of getting another kitten for him to play with, I really don't see what you'd be able to do that you haven't already tried.

I know this might sound crazy, but get another kitten. Your kitten is bored and needs a playmate. Your family is probably gone for most of the day, so the kittens sleeps and is raring to go when you're ready for bed. No matter what you try, kittens have a TON of energy...
Having two cats/kittens is a lot easier than just one.

Nobody can control a young kitten. Their energy knows no bounds. It's just part of their "childhood".
The best solution is always another kitten as they burn off each other's energy and that may not be feasible for you. If it is, then by all means do it. Then the cats can become pals when they are grown and you never have to feel guilty about leaving them for vacations and fun excursions for yourself and family.

I used to have the same trouble with my kittens. They calmed down after a few months- and after they learned that if I didn't want to wake up and play with them, I wasn't going to. Sometimes if they get too rambunctious I'll close them out of the bedroom anyway- But that's a rare thing.

My cat did the same thing when she was younger. We tried everything also but nothing worked. Finally we realized that kittens are just like that. Cats hunt at night and that is when they are awake the most. I lost alot of sleep the first 6 months we had her but now she is fine and sleeps through the whole night!

Typical kitten behaviour. Cats are nocturnal and it probably wants to spend time with you. Ours slept with between us when it was little. It will start moving down to lower parts of the bed as it gets bigger and doesnt fit as well. Your only option is to close the bedroom door with the kitten outside. Then, of course, it will probably meow at the door.

Our cat is the same way. After a few months she calmed down but still is a little crazy at night. She went from waking us up every hour from midnight till 6:00am to only being crazy till about midnight. I think they just need to get older, then they get lazy and before you know it you'll be upset that the cat never does anything anymore.
