They love you, they love your scent. That's the way the world is to a dog. Just make sure to keep the laundry in a sealed container, or a closet with a door kept closed.

Put used clothing in the washer - not in a laundry basket. When you have a full load - wash them and put them away. If you don't have a washer, soak soiled undergarments in a sinkfull of soapy water, rinse and then hang from the shower curtain rod. The dog can't get it there. When you go to the laundromat, take the undergarments with you in the laundry basket.

I stayed at my friend's house for a while and he ate (yes, literally ate) a pair of my undies out of the dirty clothes hamper.

I think part of it has to do with smell (especially if it's that time of the month. Make sure you have the bathroom door closed if it is. Some dogs will eat used tampons.). Think about it. They say that women cannot go on safari if it's that time of the month. A dog is an animal. Same idea.

Also, some dogs just like to chew, and will chew anything.

My dog doesn't get in the laundry basket, but every work day she waits until I'm getting dressed, I have one leg up to step into my panties and she grabs that side and takes off running. Besides knocking me completely off balance, I now have thrown away so many pair of panties because the one leg hole is so stretched out I can't wear them. Once she has them she doesn't chew them she hides them, I don't know how she can tell when I'm putting on panties for work or to stay at home, but somehow she knows.

I think maybe its the person's scent that's on the clothes that attracts them. Not to say that they are wanting to chew that person up, but its more of a comforting thing.

In my ex-boyfriends dog's case it was that he was pissed I was new to the environment and taking attention away from the poochie. Damn thing chewed two of my best pair too!
