You know it's not good to laugh at people who have cancer whether or not they brought it upon themselves. But in response to all the other answers, perhaps cigarette smoke is not the only cause of cancer but medical research has proved that it is one of the causes of lung cancer. If you think it is your choice to take that risk because as I've heard "you have the right to live your own life" do not put the lives of others in jeapordy. The link below talks about how being exposed to second hand smoke was a factor in Dana Reeve's lung cancer. The article says "Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among American women, and, according to the Lung Cancer Alliance, over 60 percent of new lung cancer patients have never smoked or already have quit smoking. " So do what you want but I already have lymphoma-keep your cigarette smoke away from me.

It is sad your friend has stage 4 cancer, laughing at her would be just rude and not something a friend would do. People choose to smoke to relieve a stress that has built up in there lives, it is something they do not want to do and wish they could stop but the addiction is too much for them.

Smoking is not the only cause for cancer, many foods we eat also can be the cause. So, are you going to stop eating too? No one reserve to be sick, but everyone will fall sick one day! She may got 4 stage cancer now, but no one can guarantee you won't get cancer one day...so laugh at her, probably one day other will laugh at you too...for a non-smoker with 4 stage cancer.

Smoking is not the only cause of lung cancer. THat's not been a proven fact. Look at Dana Reeves. She died of lung cancer and never smoked. ALot of other people have died of lung cancer that have never smoked. So, you need to get off the smokers backs and come up with a better load of bull that's alot more believeable and have scientific facts to back up your uncalled for statements.

Considering your question, one could assume that you have no bad habits, which I am sure is not the case.

I watched my grandfather (he was a smoker) survive throat cancer and pass from pancreas cancer. There was nothing enjoyable about watching him hurt and wither away to nothing. It was even less enjoyable when my addiction called me out of the room.

Every time I light a cigarette I am fully aware of the effects and risks. But if you are not a smoker, you do not understand how addictive they are and how that addiction is hard to overcome.

My Mum died at 50 of lung cancer and had never smoked a single cigarette in her life. Similarly lots of people who smoke live to a long age. Perhaps you should live your own life and let other people live theirs.
