1000's of prophesies in the Bible have already come true, including numerous references to the birth, life, and death of Christ made by the major prophets.

To understand the "end times" you should have a concept of Bible dispensations, that is, time periods. Most Bible scholars agree on around 6-9 of them. I won't get into detail on that, but the "Age of Grace" is the final dispensation--the one we have been in for the past 2,000 years. Remember, "a day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day". There is a prophecy that speaks of Christ returning in 2 days...kind of makes one wonder...

Such as? If you are refering to Revelation, that book was added much later (odd, it says in Rev not to add anything to the book, yet the rest of the Bible is added and used to verify it). Scholars, Christian and Non alike, believe that Revelation was written by Jews FOR Jews during the time the Temple was destroyed in 70 AD... Destroyed by Rome who was squashing an uprising amongst the Jews (not the Gentile Christians as some would have us believe).

I'm not an atheist, but I have studied the Bible for several years... because of so many telling me that my soul would be tormented forever if I didn't believe EXACTLY right. And I can honestly say, there is nothing to Revelation... not for today or tomorrow. It was meant for the Jews of the 1st century who were being persecuted. The Christians of that time were not being persecuted... that didn't start till almost a century after the destruction of the Temple.

But, if you wish, I'll point out something in the Bible to show you what I'm talking about. Jesus himself said "There are some here who not taste death till the Son of Man comes".......... are those ppl still alive? I would really like to meet someone who has been alive for 2000 yrs.

Well, your answer is pushing it a little bit. Though I'm not an atheist, I am an animist. I do not believe in the Bible, but I have found it to be an interesting read every now and again. If you want to tell us that we're all going to Hell, you may as well go ahead and say it. However, it may be more benificial to all for you to find some specific Biblical passages and recite them to us, showing us how they are relevant and prevalent in today's world. Revelations may be a powerful message, however, it is almost entirely symbolism. Do you honestly believe that the Whore of Babylon will rise up riding a Seven-Headed Beast?
Not likely, but tell yourself what you must.

There has always been earthquakes, fires, plagues, war, and disrepectful children. Look at the dark ages. Every generation since Vespaisain's slaughter in Jerusalem has believed they were in the end times. What is different now is that other prophicies are coming to there times of promence (like the Mayan calander) given the state of the world right now it will more then likely the end of civilization and a new dark age as opposed to the end of the world and a mass exodus.

I think you will find that most atheists/agnostics in nominally 'religious' countries have read the bible. In fact, that is a good part of the reason that they ARE atheists. Atheists, in general, know MORE about Christianity, and the history of Christianity, than most Christians do... INCLUDING pastors.

With regard to 'end times prophecies' coming true... they have been coming true at ALL times for the past 2,000 years. Since the dawn of Christendom, loud-mouthed fear-mongers have been proclaiming that 'the end is near', and that 'the prophecies have been fulfilled.

Your question is a testament to your gullibility and lack of discernment.

I recently read a Farmer's Almanac from 1994. It "predicted" that south central Texas would receive rain on 9/11/06. Guess what? It rained in San Antonio yesterday!!!! Does this mean the Farmer's Almanac was god's word? Or do you think that, just maybe, it was nothing more than coincidence?

The bible is very impressive until you reach the age of about 6 and make contact with the real world. After that, it is beyond belief that anyone whose IQ stretched to double digits would take it seriously.

I'm sure they have, but to them it's just a book full of crap. It was written like a thousand years after Jesus died. It is all heresay. If they are a skeptic, nothing we can say will change their minds. They need to see it/feel it. They need absolute proof....Why do they believe the big bang theroy?...I really don't know. It preaches love, but they see believers lose loved ones/die young/ or many other tragedies. Why would a loving God allow poverty? This is just what I have found other people to believe. Yes, I believe in God.
