I am trying to learn german and I find that going to courses is very daughting for me and I also can't afford to pay for courses I only wish that there are some courses for learn german without having to pay for packaging or discs. I know there is no such thing as a free lunch these days but surely there is some sites that give you free lessions in german?

there is a lot of places out there the bbc do some great free courses put together well, before you know have free soft ware its not great but its worth doing. These are 2 places on the web that I have used to learn French and some Spanish and other languages. try and lsiten to german radio as much as possble and watch dvds in german that will help loads good luck oh yeah german is very easy to learn if you can speak english

You are right. The best way would be to take a private teacher, but depending where you are it might be difficult and expensive to get one. I studied some German with Rosetta Stone, but didn't make too much progress. Since January I'm using Rocket German and I found it a little bit more entertaining as well as more effective. If you are not afraid of learning by yourself, then you could give it a try. Viel Erfolg :)

Click on the link below. Deutsche Welle is Germany's equivalent of the BBC and offers excellent, free online courses at three levels plus a Business German course.

www.RocketGerman.com is great , especially for beginner level (that's available for free); Paul Weber is a nice teacher!
