So I've been to a couple of Pampered Chef parties and the consultant always mentions how the jarred minced/crushed garlic that you buy in the grocery store will turn into formaldehyde as it ages. Now, keep in mind she says this while wielding the Pampered Chef's amazing garlic press. Is there any truth to this?

I am a pampered Chef Consultant! I have never been told or heard that jarred garlic will turn into formaldehyde so I can't say if this is true or not! I can tell you there is a huge difference between jarred and fresh garlic in taste! Fresh garlic is better in my own opinion. Also you end up using less when you use fresh garlic because it is stronger in flavor. It really is just a matter of preference, I encourage you to try fresh sometime so you can taste the difference! (This doesn't mean you have to buy the garlic press, just use your knife to mince it and see if you like it better. The press just makes it quicker and easier.) Good Luck and hope this helps you out!

I believe that the chef is correct but it has to age at a specific tempature and in a specific place. Like unrefridgerated and no in direct light.

uhm....that might have been a ploy to get you to buy the garlic press so you will have "fresh garlic each and every time you need it"
