I personally haven't served there, but my husband just returned last week from his 2nd tour in Iraq, for a total of almost 3 yrs. The news is completely biased. There are some stories that would make the average person cry from happiness, if they knew even half of the truth. On my husbands first trip there, he befriended a little boy about 7 he had to work to bring money home for his family so of course they had nothing extra. He was so amazed with the "american soldiers" he came to see my husband every afternoon, and they drank a coke and ate a snickers bar. I mean every day he had a chance. Thats what they did. Or a family who couldn't feed their baby so his troop gathered all of their personal money and bought enough formula and groceries to last for months for the family. Or a man whos sister would have been dead in a matter of weeks from heart problems without a surgery they could not afford. But again guess who stepped up to the plate? The US SOLDIERS they gathered all their money and got her the operation she desperately needed. There are so many other stories I could go on and on about. But you are right they never show these things on tv. They are too busy trying to make money, ever heard "if it bleeds it leads"? thats our media. But yes the Iraqi people are mostly grateful for the soldiers there, they go out of their way to show it to them and treat them with a lot more respect then they get here.

I have been there several times (3) and it just depends on were you are at in Iraq if the people want you there. But I would say the majority which are foriegners anyway do not want us there. Some do, and some don't. When the people say that the children were happy to see us...of course they were. They are friggin kids. Seriously ya'll this is a hard question to answer.

Yes, it's true. The Iraqi children run up and hug soldiers. The Iraqi women bring flowers to the troops and try to hand them gifts. The Iraqi's want to be liberated and free. They couldn't do it alone. The insurgents are just a few, although they are causing alot of havoc and unrest. That's why our troops must remain until the Iraqi people can take over for themselves. It's a shame the news doesn't show you what we know. You'll never read about it in a newspaper. You'll definitely never get the Dems to admit to it (I know this isn't about a party, but they hide the truth). American soldiers are making a difference over there. I replied to a post by and Iraqi man before about how grateful he was we were there and how much he liked Bush. You wouldn't believe the negative responses he got. People calling him a liar and he's right there in it all. It was almost pathetic and sad. Believe your friends and keep faith in our troops. They're doing their job and doing it well. They need more people like you to put the word out that what they're doing means something to the Iraqi people.

Do you think they like having new text books, toys, games, freedom from a fascist dictator? The answer to your question is yes, Majority of Iraqi's are happy with the changes our service men and women have brought about in Iraq. And Gatita N is a douche.

yes, it's true. There's no money in telling the (good) truth, so the media sells its stories to the sadists in America.

Sure they're happy because they're sh!t scared of the carnage that will occur when the coalition leaves. Iraq was the closest thing the region had to a secular state, now it's a hotbed of radical Islamic fanaticism. Thank you America-not.
