If for nothing else you could say something to the effect of you are updating your address book so when you get ready to send out invitiations you will have the correct place to send it to. If they say ok and give it to you- just joke around and say you are coming arent you? Mostly everyone you ask will say yes unless you dont give enough notice!

Do not ask, just send the invitation. Even if they don't come to the wedding they can send a gift.
You will have to many things to worry about planning the wedding.

Yes...
I believe it could be proper if done right.
Weddings are so expensive & it can be hard playing the "numbers" game when it comes to the invitation list.
You may want tell your friends who say they "CAN'T" attend that you are only sending invitations to friends who "can" attend...
That way you can avoid hurt feelings from those who maybe are expecting an invitation even though they are not able to attend.

I most certainly do not think it's rude to ask ahead of time. I think you will be fine if you ask ahead of time. Not only will it help you in planning this will also give you the oportunity to get mailing addresses. I don't know about you but I don't know ALL of my friends mailing addresses. So this can work a couple of ways for you. After all it's probably no surprise that you are getting married and some of your friends might be wondering when you are going to say something to them about it. I hope this helps. Good luck and Congrats!!!

No, because they most likely will say yes just to not hurt your feelings. Just send them an invite, if they say no, invite someone else.

Sure its okay! Your excited and talking with alot of people about the wedding and when u do u feel obligated to mention to them when and where it is and they usually say- Oh what church so u tell them and say it would be great if u could come! Your not doing anything wrong at all! CONGRADULATIONS to your upcoming wedding AND for finding true love!

You ask or invite who you want andask them to respond back by a certain date to know what your actual count would be for the wedding.

well im getting married in 2 weeks. when we sent our invite out we just sent it out w/a reply.. so it was there choice to come or not... as for us we had lots of people that we really didnt care for just invite them selves. so that is why we sent out invites. to invite who we want. best of luck to you!!

Sure, I don't see why not. This will give them a heads up and may help you plan better as far as timing goes.
