These are quotes from people of many religion recognizing the virtues of Buddhism. We cannot be accused of worshipping false gods because we worship none, we simlpy live a life of kindness. I have had my religion insulted by many people of these 4 religions

Ignorance is probably the main cause. People criticize what they dont understand. As you say, Buddha is not a God, he is equal to all, but a great and wise teacher. Buddhism is more of an education than a religion. And the people who criticize it probably didnt like school.

You just called it a religion and the others, religions. Now why dont you look at it this way:
1. Pineapple juice
2. Orange juice
3. Mango juice..... etc
These may be sold by different companies but its still JUICE. All companies selling juice are rivals so they must do what they got to to bring the opponent down.
There has to be rivalry cause they are all religions, only different.
