I think it's logical that there are more atheists where there is better eduction and a more tolerant society. Of course, communists countries such as China are religion-neutral and do not tolerate any religion that may upset the government.
I think it is a fair and thoughtful statement to say that there are more atheists where there is better education and a more tolerant population.

While I cannot speak for everyone, I know that I am an atheist BECAUSE of my religious upbringing. My family was religious, albeit liberal, but my friends were fundamentalists. I threw myself into it, and, as a result, saw the fraud at the core of the church. I was forced to question and became an atheist. Had been brought up pantheist, deist, or agnostic, I probably would have stayed that way.

I think it is mostly out of fear. The fear of the unknown. Sometimes those that are atheist were once believers and something happened to make them believe other wise. We are all free to decide how to live our own lives. All I know is that I choose to be a believer and I am not hurting anyone by being a believer.

There is a negative correlation between education and faith. The better educated a person is, the less likely they are to believe in religious nonsense.

If you see a lot of christianutty around you, you get a good chance of seeing how illogical religion and especially Christianity, is. ( it's rather illogical captain). By the way, I love Icarus's guinea pig!

They are mad about something. Maybe ticked with parents for some reason or another. SO they turn the other way to hurt people but they are only hurting themselves.
