It was interesting to watch a documentary about fundamentalists here in the UK recently - The presenter's view seems to be that globalisation is a big factor in the rise of fundamentalism (and hence fundamentalist terrorists), by making people insecure and fearful about losing their familiar local culture and way of life. So, trying to achieve a '1 world everything' may actually cause more problems than it cures.

No, you'd have a planet where no one remembered their culture, where everything was just a blur. Humanity has grown too large to unite under one banner.

That is NOT to say, however, that different cultures can't learn to exist in peace, but to have 1 world everything would mean scrapping every bit of society we've built and starting all over.

If it doesn't take away any rights or freedoms from us then I'm all for it, in fact, there is such a harmonious society in fiction that would work real nice, it is called the star trek society.

Yeah, sure...if you believe in Utopia. Problem is some countries just don't play well with others. People are too greedy, and power hungry for a perfect society. You have been watching too much Star Trek.

I would not be able to trade currency on the foreign exchange. But, I guess all good things do end. Maybe I will have made enough money by then it not matter. Then I go lay on a beech and let everyone else worry about it.

Yoou have an idealistic vision of humanity that that could ever work. My great grandchildren will not see a color-blind, nation-blind world. The "world" is not capable of being a community...it is too big.
