Serious question from an agnostic, not making fun or anything, but I'm trying to figure out what heaven would exactly be like..
For example, my idea of heaven is friends and family and pets and the whole deal, but no animals go to heaven and many of my friends don't believe in God.
My question is, since there is no universal idea of heaven, is there some sort of cleansing process before you go in? Seeing as if your idea of heaven has your family in it, and some of them go to hell, would it truly still be heaven to you? or like with the cleansing, does that make you forget about them so that you can be happy?
Thank you for sharing your thoughts :)

Heaven is the truest form of Love and Joy. It's being completely at peace, with everything. Completely calm, completely happy, completely loved. A good book that relates to this is C.S. Lewis's "The Great Divorce". It's an awesome book, you should read it.

For some strange reason I really appreciate the maturity of this question.
I have no thought of what Heaven is going to be like, nor do I know what Hell is going to be like.
I guess the “cleansing” would make you forget about your family, because in Heaven there is only happiness and joy. I think that if an animal makes you happy, then it will be in Heaven. The Bible says that the lion and the lamb will lie together in Heaven, so that does sorta say there’s animals in Heaven.
But.. If there is no sorrow in Heaven, how is God *sad* to see his children sin? I don’t understand. I call myself a Christian, but I guess I’m agnostic too, there’s so many things that I don’t understand.
My idea of a perfect Heaven would be all my friends and family together, because there is nothing I love more than their happiness.

Oh dear. Your loved ones will be in Heaven and you will forget no one!
Some people have been dead for anywhere from 2 to 45 minutes and been revived. The experiences they have are the same for the most part.
The common things are:
A life review in which they feel the pain they caused others, they feel the joy they brought to others and then they are asked if they understand.
They all see a bright light that casts no shadow. They see colors they can't see here. They have kind "guides", they find they can move about very fast. They can think their thoughts and be heard and speak to others by thinking. They say they don't wantt o leave and that place is so much more real than here. They feel completely loved. They see their pets and the place has gardens in which beautiful music seems to vibrate with the plants.
Look the experiences up under near death experiences onlline.
ps Ryan you are very wise!

Heaven is a state of being. A state of comfort, contentment in any situation, peace, tranquility, bliss, Heaven is within me...but so is hell. Yet I understand that without Hell there is no Heaven.
I am a Christian by the way. But have studied as many beliefs as I have encountered. Christianity has the greatest potential for me to explain the experience of Spirituality to others in my area though so Christianity is what I "promote". I can try to show you heaven in any faith you wish though if you ask
Heaven is the Mystical union with God, Christ, Buddha(which never claimed to be a god nor is viewed as one to my limited knowledge) or whatever "Higher Power " you believe in

I am a Christian, but my idea of heaven is not what others may think. I am pretty sure heaven will look something like Hawaii...lol!!
Seriously, I think it is the great mystery of life. You always here stories of people who have near death experiences claiming they have been to heaven...yeah right!! Not to be a "doubting Thomas" but I am sure we will al be quite surprised!! We often try to out earthly parameters on something that is beyond anything would could ever imagine!! The truth is no one knows...nobody!!! People who claim to have expert insight are reading way more into something then they can't ever imagine.
Good luck....hope to meet you there!!

I think that the loved ones who will not be there will be forgotten about and our thoughts will be focused on the glorifation of GOD at the highest level possible, we will be in Paradise.
