Yes, but make sure you're eating 'healthier' cereals. Special K Fruit & Yogurt is pretty good. And like some have already mentioned, don't use whole milk. I use 1%, but if you aren't used to using low fat milk, start with 2% and work your way down.
Don't listen to the moron who said to skip breakfast. That's the worst thing you can do. Not eating will only slow down your metabolism.

Of course it is - just eat the right kind, there are lots to pick from, like Special K and use 2% milk or no fat milk and as little sugar as possible if you add any at all, some dont - try using a fruit of some sort in your cereal as an alternative sweetner.

if you go by the reccomended serving size and count your calories, you can eat just about any cereal to lose weight. If you want the cereal to have vitamins go for a healthy cereal like special k or total. You can have a bigger serving size to fill your belly, unlike lucky charms which is like a half a cup

In my opinion:
Almost all cereals have sugar in them.
Almost all cereals have high fructose corn syrup, which is even worse than sugar as far as insulin response is concerned.
Eat plain cereal, like oatmeal, shredded wheat, etc. with no sugar.
Use the herb Stevia as a sweetener. It tastes like sugar.
Eat cereal with a fruit like banana, blueberries or strawberries. Do not use canned fruit (sugar again).

Yes it is; just be careful on the amount and sugar & fat intake. I ate Wheaties. Also, walking on a daily basis can help a lot. I walked everyday with my dog for about 3 miles and lost 4 inches off my waiste along with 7 lbs. I have been watching my carbs, sugar, and fat content. I stayed away from all fried foods & sweets. Good luck.

Yes, wholegrain cereals are excellent as they fill you up for longer. You could also try having a piece of fruit before your cereal if you feel that a bowl of cereal won't fill you up on its own.

Cereal (without the sugar and funny looking aliens) is outstanding source of carbs and protein to start you off in the morning. Special K is outstanding.
