How much water does your dog drink a day? Is 3 cups of water alot for a 38 pound dog to drink a day?

My dogs can drink 3 cups of water each after coming in from playing. My husky weighs 39 lbs right now and she definitely drinks more than 3 cups of water. The shepherds are like camels, sometimes I don't think they wll stop drinking.

Dogs tha run and play alot need lots of water. If they go outside durning this hot summer then yes that is a good amount of water. Is the dog peeing as much as it is drinking? If not then take the dog for a check up at the vet.

Not at all. It takes a lot of water for a dog to process the food they eat, along with just needed water for the body to function. You should always supply your dog with plenty of fresh clean water. I fill my dog's bowl up as soon as it gets 1/2 empty. She'll go through a couple bowls in a day depending on how much exercise she gets. And her bowl holds approx 6 cups.

No, I don't think so. It also depends on what you are feeding the dog, dry dog food or moist canned. IF the dog is fat and IF the dog is pretty old you might get it checked for diabeties. That will make it drink lots of water. Pops

your dog will drink as much as they want there is no problem with the amount unless it wont drink. just always leave out water for your dog and change it on a regular basis

I just leave water out for my puppy to have access to all day long. I've never measured how much she's drinking.

i keep my pets water dish full all the time. our outside dog has a bucket that we keep full also. it is important that they always have water available to them, they can't tell you they are thirsty or dehydrated.
