I've been clean for about two years now but have been thinking alot about it lately.

I have been clean for over a year and i attend N/A meetings. But meetings aren't going to keep you clean. You have to get a sponsor, do the 12-steps and particapate in your recovery. You can be clean of drugs for awhile but if you don't have 'recovery' you are setting your self up. Meetings are great because you can relate to others and make meaningful relationships with people. My clean date is 10/06/89. Continue going to meetings. There are a lot of newcomers that just might need to hear something you have to share. You are still vulnerable to periods of depression and people to talk to are there for you as well.

Yes. The secret is to diligently search for a meeting that is not full of crackheads with courtslips or self-righteous cult-like old-timers. Change sponsors until one is found who will do what is necessary. Never think you can do it your way or by yourself. Find new ways to occupy yourself that you enjoy.

It helped my sister-in-law. When she decided to quit, she started going to church and NA and is doing very well. Everyone is different, though. What works for one person won't necessarily be right for someone else.

go back to meetings if you need help or are thinking about relapsing, you can go as often as you need to, they never close their doors to you because an addict is never cured, you just learn to manage your symptoms and live life without your drug of choice.
