Intention is the core of all conscious life. It is our intentions that create karma, our intentions that help others, our intentions that lead us away from the delusions of individuality toward the immutable verities of enlightened awareness. Conscious intention colors and moves everything.

Absolutely true. My intentions are benevolent 95% of the time. My goal is 100%. I fully expect to have one more lifetime after this one at least. Enlightenment hovers just beyond my grasp.

Excellent quote, but look at the last sentence of it. "Conscious intention colors and moves everything." The key word is conscious. We all consciously think about ambitions, dreams, goals, etc., but much of our lives appear adrift and we wonder why we do not achieve that which we consciously desire. In part, it may be our inability to focus our will upon a single desire at a time and to work towards it. In other words, our monkey minds are jumping from tree to tree in search of bananas, rather than settling down to search one tree at a time thoroughly to get the bananas it may hold. However, there is a greater problem still than lack of focus.

I would argue that it is the unconscious intentions that we have that colour and move everything, frequently in ways that are surprising even to ourselves. Take, for example, the woman who exclaims, "Why do all the horrible men always find me?!" She is heartbroken and surprised at once again having been in an abusive relationship. After six tortuous marriages, she just knows that either there are no good men or that she is a magick magnet for attracting bad men. Her conscious intent is a happy relationship. And obviously, there are good men in the world. So what is wrong? The problem is she has an unconscious intent to prove that she is unworthy of anything except the most abusive relationship. In a room with a thousand heros and one beast, she will always find herself with the beast before the end of the night unless or until she realizes and works on her unconscious intent.

The Sleeper must awaken; that which is hidden must be revealed. Much of our work in this world is to embrace what is hidden within ourselves, raise it up to the light of conscious awareness, and then release it and replace it with something we consciously choose. A good question to start this work would be, "To what extent do my habits, habits of behavior and of thinking prevent me from achieving my goals?" Habits are automatic essentially because they are unconsciously held. We must raise our awareness of our habitual automatism, and work at replacing it with the intentions of our conscious choosing.

Then, we can consciously choose to work towards enlightened awareness.

As for myself, truthfully, my intentions are muddled and confused of late. At best, I try to live each day being peace. At worst, I just hope I can make a pot of coffee without burning it. Nirvana is the still point at the center of the wheel; Samsara is the wheel ever spinning. When one is caught up in samsara, it's easy to get confused and dizzy.

Namaste.

Once one moves away from individuality, individual intention is lost. One would move from "inner peace" the group motivation, which leads to the politics of the whole. This is where cults reside. Your awareness is not necessarily my perception and vise versa. Better to walk the path of knowing as an individual and meet with and share with individuals along the way, but not gather individuals as a group intentionally to suffice your own.

Well, my main intention in life is to lead as many people as I can to Jesus Christ as their Saviour. I am sure I will get half a million thumbs down votes for this. Who cares??????

My next intention in life is to be the best wife and mother I can be.

Next, is to be a child that continues to make my parents proud.

Then, to be a great friend to all those I care about.

Total honesty.

My goal or intention is to be completely transparent with no complexity. What you see is truly what you get. I fail at it daily slipping into deluded unconciousness, but I find as I keep at it I recover much more quickly.

My intention is to get to heaven at the end of this life and to do my best to get others into heaven--my husband (to fulfil my vocation), my children (because it is important to God and myself) and others--the more the merrier!
