They're always looking to take a pill or a shake or are on this or that crash diet to help them lose the weight quickly. Why not just eat properly and excercise and lose it healthily over an extended period of time? This puzzles me.

By the way, I'm a big girl myself, so I'm not pointing fingers, just wondering.

Different people have different strengths when it come to will power, or the lack of it. Some folks can do what you say, eat sensibly and exercise more. On the other hand, some people are stress eaters, or are struggling with some other problem that the try to mask witht the temporary pleasure that eating something brings. In a similar vein, I know a guy that smoked like a steam engine for 25 years. The day his grandson turned two, he just stopped- cold turkey, never smoked again. MOST people cannot find that power to do that. That is why we look for a pill or something to help us lose the weight we know we should no be carrying.

Well it really doesn't have anything to do with overweight people. It has to do with America, we live in a country where we want to see results now. No one wants to wait and work for everything.

Just because a person is overweight does not mean that they eat too much. A lot of times its because they dont eat enough actually. By not eating every few hours your metabolism slows down. Who wouldnt want a quick fix.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Because they lack the motivation and drive to lose the weight on their own. They want a crutch to help them. Being heavier makes them have less energy, so they tire easily. They get depressed because they are heavy and get heavier because they are depressed, so of course they just want an easy solution.

My guess is that they may have been taught bad eating habits. Most people I know that were born in the 70's grew up in a Mean & Potato Family since it was cheap and you could stretch it, now they are reaping the reprocussions of that and passing it on to their families.

Just my guess.

Because when people decide they actually want to lose weight, they want instant gratification. We live in a society where we want results TODAY. Who wants to wait months to lose 20 pounds?

Because I'm sure they don't like to be fat. They're fed up and they want a quick fix. Doing it the "right way" takes a lot of time and effort. Not saying they're lazy, they're probably just tired of being fat and want it gone the quickest way possible.
