I'm decorating my room black and white, My bed is white and so is my furniture and my accents are black, I was thinking a black accent wall but I dont want to make my room look smaller or darker Other options?

Paint the wall opposite your window black - then the light will shine on it and not make it so stark. If it's a big wall, brighten it up with a large, bright coloured picture.

I don't think I would ever paint my walls black. If you ever want to change the color, it will be extremely difficult to cover. I understand the dramatic look that you are going after. Do you have at least a few windows to let in light? Maybe if you painted the wood work white, the look could work for you without being too dark. I wish you luck in your project.

You're on the right track.One of the popular things I'm seeing today is to paint one wall a dark accent color. I agree with one of the other posters. Do the oposite wall from the window Good Luck

ok, i painted my room realy dark blue, then i took some stencles of flowers and put on the wall about half way down from the ceiling, then i took these plastic glow in the dark stars,planets, and put them on the ceiling. it is really pretty. try it. the more stars you put up makes it look 3D/ hope this helps

What about either black trim or a black and white stripe? Try your look on the Behr website, they have paint 'tools' that you can try to see what it will look like before you paint.

There is always a grey area to think about, wouldn’t take as much paint and would be easier to go back to a lighter color in the future.

Use glossy black so at least you get some reflection and hang a lot of light colored (white) decorations to get contrast
