It gives the adherents are false sense of superiority.
Christianity has always picked out another group for this purpose, whether it be Jews, Muslims, witches, gays, etc.. It's just gay people's time in the Holy Barrel.
This way, leaders can tell people they are all sinners, BUT the people are not as bad as those gays.
Demonizing a minority for all of society's ills is an easy way to get worthless people to follow someone and feel as though they themselves have some worth.
Worked for Hitler, works for the Pope, works for Jerry Falwell. It's the oldest trick in the book for building a constituency and folks never seem to pick up on it.

Well based on my experience with Christanity, I have never seen anyone banned from a church service because of their sexual orientation. However, Christians( a true follower of Christ) don't commend homosexual because God does not agree with that way of life. In the Old Testament,(Genisis 19) men were sleeping with men, and God told them that what they were doing was a sin, and that only man and woman should have those types of relations. God ended up destroying these people for their sins.
Since today society excepts homosexuality, the Christian community has to deal with it. But not necessarily except either. God wants everyone to feel welcome at church, so Christians do not turn people away because of their lifestyle(or at least they shouldn't). They just disagree with sin. And since sin is sin-homosexuality, killing, stealing, adultery, fornacation(misspelled) and any other sin are NOT Christ like and should therefore not be done by his people.

Because if they banned adulterers the pastor, the assistant pastor, half the choir and 83% of the church members would be tossed out of the church.
Thou shalt not be gay is not in the 10 Commandments, and Jesus didn't mention homosexuality — but he did preach about adultery, which *is* in "God's" top 10.

Only Mosaic religions do, i. e. Jews, Christians and Moslems.
Other gods seem not to be homophobic.
And a lot of Christians don't only want to ban gayness, but also gaiety.

Because it is an abomination. Why do you think it's not mentioned in the New Testament? Someone may have told you that because it is painfully obvious that you have not read the New Testament. If you read 2nd Peter chapter 2, or the book of Jude, or the first chapter of Romans you will see that it is a horrible sin in the eyes of God.

It is banned because God who knows best considers it a major sin. It is against the nature of humans and very serious consequences will result from it. Why AIDS affects them more than others, and why God destroyed the people of Lot PBUH? If you just follow the true religion of God Islam you will feel normal and all these diseases will be healed and then you will be surprised how you ever thought of some thing like that.

Why "Banify" gays? Try reading Romans 1, "God gave them up to a reprobate mind..." it deals specifically with the subject of sodomy (Bible word). It basically says that God gave them over to their darkest and most destructive lusts because of their own wilfull rebellion.
The Bible says being gay is an "abomination", in other words God hates it profusely. The sin that is, not the sinners.
BTW Jesus didn't write the old or the New Testament, his words were recorded in th NT by other people.
