I need someone to try and help me figure out what to do. I have been having this empty feeling for a while now, but in the last week it has gotten alot worse. I barely want to leave the house, and if i dont leave the house i feel like i am going crazy. I have been in a depressed mood and cant sleep at night but can during the day. My friends or family will ask me whats wrong but its not in a nice way its like they are irritated with me, and that hurts even more because it seems like no one really cares, there is alot more to this but that is the basic feeling i have...Does anyone have any suggestions or questions?

You need to stop wallowing in whatever you feel is wrong. Stop trying to focus on everything you feel isn't going right, and start looking at what's good in your life. Voluntee at a hospital, homeless shelter, or to work with the handicapped. If you show yourself how bad a lot of people REALLY have it, you might start to see yourself as very fortunate. It will also give you something productive to do, so you won't have that 'empty' feeling.

Think positive, and see all that is good in your life not what is bad. This feeling will go away if you just try a bit harder, because there are good times and bad times for every person and with each obstacle that you pass you will get stronger. If you cannot do this on your own get a counselor. And do not hold it against your family and friends for being like this, they have problems of their own and sometimes when you complain all the time you get them irritated, even though they care about you. I hope you will be able to go through this, I know it is hard. Have faith!

It sounds like what I call " falling into a pit". If I am off my Premarin (estrogen) for any length of time I can feel it coming on until I fall off the edge.

DEPRESSION, I went through 7 years of miserable depression. Last year I learned that thyroid problems can cause depression. My Doctor prescribed Synthroid.

GO TO YOUR DOCTOR PROMPTLY AND TELL HIM WHAT IS GOING ON AND ASK FOR A THYROID TEST. RUN DON'T WALK. FOR YOUR SAKE.

I was on Synthroid 1 month and it was gone.
Oh I still get discouraged but not depressed.
Trust me when I say this is most likely a chemical imbalance. Not that counseling isn't helpful, but get your chemistry straight first.

Good Luck in solving the problem.

Go to a deserted park. Or somewhere peaceful. Lie down and just look at the sky or what ever is above you. Breathe in the air and enjoy your surroundings. Dont try to fall asleep but if you do it helps. Think about your problems one at a time. Remember that no matter what your problem you can overcome it in the end. You will have faced problems before in your life and you have overcame them and you will face problems in the future and you will overcome them too. This may not make your problem just dissapear, but hopefully if you search yourself you will be able to find the root cause of your problem and deal with it. Good Luck and Take care.

I think I know what you are going through. I have been there. You're not crazy.
The people that you mention that seem irritated with you, they're not. That just don't know how to help you. They are frustrated, just like you are.
I have lived with this since I was 13 years old. I do know how you feel. One thing that I would recommend is to try to find one person to talk to. Someone you feel comfortable with. Someone you won't feel judged by. Once you find that person, talk, tell them your fears, your happiness, anything. Just talk!
Sometimes if you talk out load to someone, things don;t seem so scary anymore. That's just my thoughts...
I would be glad to hear some of your fears.

It sounds like you may be suffering from depression (though to be honest, it could be one of a hundred other things). See a doctor immediately, before it gets any worse. A competent doctor can perform a full examination to be sure that it isn't something physical, and can then recommend a good psychiatrist if it's something else. As someone who has dealt with depression for many years, I urge you to see a doctor as soon as possible. Help is available, and there is no reason for you to suffer.

Go see a doctor and/or a counselor. Find out why you feel this way. You don't mention how long this has been going on but people tend to get tired of others who are always depressed and don't do anything about it. Everyone goes through moods, but if you think everyone is sick of you, then go get some help.

well summer is over and that may have something to do with these feelings lately. It sounds to me like depression. If you have done things to make yourself feel better like excercise, movies, talking to friends (whatever makes you happy) and you still dont feel happy, I would go see your general doctor...they will know what to do...
Its not a good feeling but at least you are on the right track to figuring out what's wrong
Good LUCK! :)

Yup, sounds like depression. But only you can know for sure, once you go see your personal physician. And if he won't help, go find another. Strange we live in such a technical world and physicians still have so much apathy, for mental health.
