Well the reason people do this odd practice is to restrict the amount of oxygen going to the brain, resulting in a light headed feeling thereby intensifying their orgasm. The mental reasons could be anything from a dependancy on submissive behaviour to just not being able to get off without a certain "fetish" or act such as this. It's also known as "turning your gas off" - read "Filth" by Irvine Welsh if you would like a really graphic description of this odd act.

This is even practiced by gay men - but why anyone would get any real excitement or pleasure from it's practice is a mystery to me. To be threaten by asphyxiation would take away any pleasure from the act of sex. It seems to be more a mental fixation of a death wish. Any repeated attempts at being choked to a near point of death is going to be dangerous to ones health, not only mentally, but physically. It's not a good practice to engage in, and a person who does should consult a medical person, because there's something not right up stairs.

its worrying i know this but........... When you suffocate and you are about to die the body starts to release endorphins into your system. This is the pleasure that is felt when someone does this. Its pretty dangerous if you take it to far.
Apparently drowning or choking is one of the most euphoric ways to die even if they do seem a little gruesome!

Many men have died by hanging themselves in search of a perfect orgasm.

If you ask me, Satan is calling them home. One can experience an orgasm without oxygen deprivation.

Sounds more like a choice rather than a mental illness.

Wow I can't see it being good for your throat at all...Aren't you worried about it being taken too far and getting seriously hurt..Brain damage? Even worse death? Careful if you must
