Well…my beloved Great Dane has finally done it. My live-in g/f moved out yesterday after he pooped and peed all over her thesis on nuclear fusion. It was due at the university yesterday, and she left it on a chair when she went for an emergency bathroom break. Worse, he then tripped over the power cord in an effort to escape and unplugged the computer, and she hadn’t saved it. When I pointed out to her that she should have saved it…she went crazy and packed her bags. I could swear that Rory looked smug as she walked out the door. His jealous behavior is getting too much. First the Bea Arthur pictures and now this. Then I woke up this morning, rolled over and there was Rory, sleeping where my beloved g/f normally slept. He wrapped his huge forearms around me and I could barely breathe. I was naked, so it wasn’t the best of positions to be in. What can I do with this dog? I am thinking of giving me to a “farm” but it would break my heart.

I think it's hilarous that Rory did this to you, but his saving grace is that he's so dog gone funny, intelligent, etc. He knew this girl wasn't for you and it's his way of saving your dignity. Remember, you can always judge a person by how your dog feels about her/him. They are the best! Don't send him to a farm, because he would dig up everything on the premises, and they would bury him in one of the holes he'd dig.

I can understand that you are upset with Rory, but he is a dog who loves you very much. If your girlfriend is that smart to be able to write a thesis on nuclear fusion, and knowing Rory's personality, she should have been smart enouth to know to save her work every few paragraphs. I would definately not send Rory to the farm over a girlfriend. Instead replace the missing "member" of the "pack" with another more loving and caring one. Enjoy Rory because their life span is only 7-10 years. Great Danes are wonderful companions with lots of love to give. He sounds quite intelligent and by doing what he did to her papers, may have saved you future heartaches with your self-absorbed live in girlfriend. Please give him a great big hug from me and take him to a nice dog park so he can run and you can celebrate your new found freedom, thanks to Rory!

sounds like your dog is bored. try walking him everyday. it works wonders for you and your pet to get rid of that stress. then give him some toys, bones for entertainment. both the dog and the girlfriend were at fault, so keep things out of reach of the dog and walk your dog or take him to a dog park or something. once your girlfriend gets over her anxiety things can go back to normal.
good luck!

aww...how cute!!! maybe he just helped you...ever think of it that way...maybe she wasn't the right girl for you and he knew it...dogs are very smart, smarter than we give them credit for...now the bed thing, you can teach him to sleep in his own bed...but good luck, maybe she just wasnt the right person...take this into consideration: my roommate has a cat that seriously doesn't like anyone, she tolerates me...and my roommate started dating this guy about 4 weeks ago and the cat loves him..sleep on his chest and just loves him...that is not normal for the cat...so thank your dog and move on!!! lol

your dog needs to be taught his place and be given some basic training rather than letting him get away with this behaviour it will take time i would consult a behaviourist and possibly a good dog training school for help with this
